The Radisson Blu hotel is the first international chain business hotel in Larnaca and the tallest building in the city.
The hotel complex is set in an area of 5600 m² and consists of 3 volumes. The base occupies almost the entire area of the plot, of 5 levels and 2 independent towers. The tallest tower, 16 levels, is located eastward overlooking the sea, and the second tower, 12 levels, to the west overlooking the city. The eastern tower ends up on a sloping roof, with morphological references to lightweight construction. Being the tallest building in the city, it offers the visitor the sense of immense.
On the ground floor of the building unfolds a small but luxurious shopping centre, that is framed by places of unique gastronomic experience. On the eastern side of the building is the main entrance of the hotel with the welcome desk. The main lobby with reception and the other common areas (restaurant, bar, swimming pool) are located on the 5th floor, from which the hotel starts to rise. The 2 towers with 106 rooms/suites are distinguished from the lobby. The building culminates on the 16th floor, where the meeting room and the panoramic roof bar are located. The hotel has the honour to host three works by the famous Cypriot sculptor Theophilos and paintings by young Cypriot artists.
The building was constructed of reinforced concrete and was laid under piles under the foundations due to the high groundwater level, while the 16th floor of the east tower was constructed with a metal skeleton. All masonry consists of drywall systems. The exterior surfaces were covered with three materials, glass curtain wall, aluminum panels (ACP) and High-Pressure Laminate Panels (HPL) in gray shades, while the interior with pressed cement mortar, walnut wood in soft shade and wallpaper of well-known houses. The suspended ceilings were made of plasterboard and acoustic ceilings made of stone wool and specially shaped corrugated wooden panels. Floors used Ligurian marble, oak parquet in walnut colours and carpets in the meeting rooms.
The planning and completion time did not exceed three years, since it started in January 2016 and the Hotel opened its doors to the public in August 2018. Quality Group, one of the largest construction companies on the island, was responsible for the construction and a key shareholder of the project with a total cost of € 52 million.
The interior design and the complete equipment (furniture, lighting, carpets etc) was edited by Ergo Home Group, which has been operating since 1996 in the hospitality field and has the exclusive representation of large, world-renowned foreign companies.
