Based on the successful brand of the hotel, we decided to exaggerate and highlight the colours as the main element, subversively combining unusual geometries with neoclassical aesthetics, thus making the visitor feel a sense of intimacy and warmth to the extent of "yes this is my home away from home!”.
The biggest challenge was the parallel implementation of the design and reconstruction of an office building to a 4-star hotel in just 9 months, with a 3-month quarantine interference. The design had to correspond to the identity of COLORS Hotels, aiming at the evolution and upgrade of the pop and minimal aesthetics of the chain, in a framework of functional utilization of each space with care for its energy upgrade.
The previous use of the building as offices, pushed us to its total restructure. In the new layout, it was decided to completely replace the existing masonry, offering excellent sound insulation between the rooms -an element necessary in every hotel.
For the most functional and efficient design of the E/M facilities, but also to stay within financial goals, 3 new skylights were designed.
For best energy efficiency of the building, the external frames were replaced, and a thermal facade was installed, further reducing the energy footprint of the building.
COLORS Hotels offer their guests a colorful palette of experiences. With this in mind, we designed the reception area on the ground floor. The COLORS experience commences for the visitor at the entrance as he sees, in a prominent position, a specially designed circular neon lamp framed by hanging plants suspended from a specially shaped construction on the roof.
Taking into account the digital revolution and the predominance of social media in customer behaviour, we have curated innovative design, directorial scripts, which unfold in every corner of the building, such as the single colour corridor on each floor with proper lighting projection.
We functionally utilized every corner, creating additional elevated spaces with a cozy character to accommodate more people and ergonomic bunk beds to serve families, thus creating a fairy-tale environment.
We used a complex color palette which included codes that explicitly matched the specific project. The use of bright colors was the main pillar of the overall design as well as the nomenclature of the hotel and the architectural pattern that governs the philosophy and desire of the owners, to achieve a positive stimulation of the visitors’ senses through a pleasant atmosphere.
Characteristic of the identity of Colors Hotels is the uniqueness of each room. Each room was designed to individually evoke a unique experience. The visitor has the opportunity to choose a room each time from a wide range of thematic units, maintaining his interest and arousing his curiosity. We designed furniture individually for each space with attention to their functionality, which ensure the comfort of the visitors and in addition we made sure that they are durable in time and easy to maintain.
An important role in highlighting the uniqueness of each room was played by the choice of fresh materials, which give a playful mood that challenges you to photograph it.
