The building that houses the hotel ‘’Noufara’’, is located at the urban center of Piraeus, surrounded from large building, reflecting the city’s development at former decades. In close proximity to the station of metro line 1, the historical and cultural center, making it ideal for a few days stay of visitor, wherever the travel for work or holidays.
Two rooms are being redesigned, renovated and united into a new architectural composition creating a suite. One the most important aspects of the design, is the organic and functional union of the two rooms into a new larger, which offers a unique experience to the visitor.
The old plan of rooms follows the typical layout of hotels, which calls for the creation of more beds, with the alternate arrangement of bathrooms at the middle wall.
The new bathroom is located in the center of the plan, functioning also as a transitional space that unites the rooms, allowing the view and communication in the whole space. When renovating the rooms, old bath utilities are being repurposed, due to economic and practical reasons. Living room and bedroom are being located at the two edges of the plan, so they can function independently and facilitate different needs between the visitors.
The balcony takes an important role in the new plan, serving as a secluded outdoor open space for relaxation, having a living room, vegetation and shading.
It is one of the older hotel buildings, located in the city center. Its unique identity and the one of its visitors are taken into consideration and are being reflected on to the design, drawing inspiration from them adopting a fitting style for the renovation.
The choice of French style to shape and transform the interior, allows for the blending of multiple, different art styles and times, with me mix of old and new items. A warm relaxing atmosphere and a sense of familiarity are being created for the visitors.
Choice of materials further contributes to the spatial experience and room’s character. The blend of new and old textures, incorporates marble, terracotta, ceramic tiles with geometrical motives, bright colored mortars and bronze details, create a modern and timeless result.
Original construction of the building took place at ‘70s. The architectural proposition for the renovation was finalized at the time between 05/2020 – 03/2021 incorporating all modern standards, with a budget of 33.000 euro. The careful choice of materials, assures durability over time and a final result of high aesthetics, taking into consideration the needs of every visitor.
