The Hotel Indigo – Larnaca is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and is located in the coastal town of Larnaca in Southern Cyprus.
The neighbourhood story is the heart and soul of every Hotel Indigo -it guides every aspect of the design and décor. A combination of the old traditional stories with a modern witty approach creating a unique modern folk which is a layered balance of local character, freshness and colour in a thoughtful way. The neighbourhood is home to several fascinating historical sites along with a wealth of attractive recent developments. But the cherry on top of this irresistible neighbourhood is neither old nor new –it’s the natural scenic beauty of a town sandwiched between the sea and the mountains, boasting glorious beaches, a seductive climate and diverse wildlife.
Hotel Indigo - Larnaca is the perfect place to come home to. Located on a charming sidestreet within walking distance of the beach and the shopping district and Larnaca’s historic attractions such as the Church of Saint Lazaros and the medieval castle.
The hotel sees a pair of old houses gracefully combined with a contemporary four-storey building to offer a captivating blend of the old and the new with the “enclosed yard” as an added bonus – much like the city of Larnaca itself.
The two “old houses”, which are listed for their architecture, house the Hotel’s Discreet main Entrance – with a foyer and a big stone “Arch” leading to the main Reception Area. The “Oinotelia” wine bar is also part of the old section with a typical cane roof and wooden details. You can enjoy a glass of wine while scrolling the city center.
A space of seven by twenty meters separates the new building and the listed buildings. This area is dedicated to the lobby and Reception desk. A hand painted mural invites you to experience the everyday scenery of the city’s main streets. The “Avli” bar and restaurant – that resembles the original “enclosed courtyard”, is a colourful and relaxing space away from the noisy city center. Also, all auxiliary spaces, kitchen and staff quarters are cleverly hidden in this transitional space between the new and the old.
The beautiful modern addition has 40 rooms and the “Kampana” roof top pool area where you can see Larnaca from above. The pool area is minimal as to absorb the view uninterrupted. The exterior balconies are shaded with vertical panels in four shades of yellow.
Depending on the usage of the inhabitant it changes “the look” of the facade, a whimsical and fun way to stand out.
The rooms are a mix and match of old and new. Oak and walnut co-exist – Terracotta and amber tones accent the space and decorative features travel you back in time. The bathroom is cladded in terrazzo done on-site and deco-cement. Story telling is everything in these unique spaces.
The design language uses traditional materials “reinvented” – floor tiles become tabletops. Traditional costume fabrics create cushions. Stone carvings – wall art. A game in play and in simple words “Modern folk”.
