The hotel complex ‘The Wild Hotel by Interni’ is located in the purest and most raw part of Mykonos, in the area of Agia Anna, in the bay of Kalafatis. It is spread amphitheatrically on 5 levels on the slope of the mountain, following the morphology of the natural soil, thus allowing unobstructed views to the sea and has direct access to a small sandy beach.
Designed by construction company Airtec, the hotel complex of 38 luxury suites draws on elements of traditional Cycladic architecture and the wild features of the natural environment. As a result, the living spaces are housed in typical white structures with individual courtyards, while the common outdoor spaces are created by stone retaining walls, a reference to the traditional terraces found at the island slopes.
The integration of the natural landscape is taken into account both in the arrangement of the structures and in the design of the interiors. The alterations of materials, textures and qualities that exist in the countryside and are sometimes characterized by extroversion and sometimes by introversion, are transferred to the interior of the building complex, creating different typologies of suites.
The aesthetics found in the configuration and decoration of the interiors are based on Cycladic references combined with modern elements, creating a relaxing and exotic yet familiar space. The prevailing materials are the cement mortar on the floors and the traditional plaster on the walls in natural shades, the masonry benches, the wooden furniture from solid oak and rattan mat, the rough wooden frames and awnings from processed aged oak, the handmade painted tiles in bright colors, ceramic dividers in a natural shade, and more.
The common area of the hotel is formed by the same principles. The form liquidity that characterizes the surrounding area of the pool and its organic shape is a reference to fluid Mykonian structure morphology while the bar and the outdoor breakfast area evoke memories of a traditional, family tavern of a Cycladic island.
