The question posed to the team Diarchon Architects/3ΧΝ Architects was, how a 3* hotel of the 1970s, can be transformed into a 5* ultra-luxury hotel?
Diarchon/3XNs, ventured into the transformation internally and externally of the old building, presenting a new building but also a new landmark with hyperlocal features. Start of design was in 2020, completion of construction was in early 2024. The implementation cost was 38.000.000 €.
A guest approaching the building from the coastal road is confronted with a modern architectural shell with water elements (plunge pools) on the balconies.
The guest entering the hotel has a unique experience as from a noisy environment, one enters a bright and quiet environment, coming into contact with fundamental earth elements, water and earth defined by the inner atrium with the vertical rock and water on the floor as a natural consequence and natural lighting from the skylights. The experience is enhanced by the "entrance" to the rock elevators, for the rise to the floors.
The rooms (199) were developed with a sea view, while inside, within the rock, the gym, the spa, and the auxiliary areas are located.
The visitor's experience is completed upon arrival at the two large-sized roof verandas (5th and 9th floors) with comfortable common areas, restaurants, bar and each with a large infinity pool. The location/geometry of the pool at the edge of the sea front allows the visitor to experience a unique sense of floating on the surface of the sea.
