The project proposes the comprehensive landscape design of an 11,000 sq.m. site comprising a complex of rental apartments in Samos. The proposal approaches the landscape not as an extension or complement to the architecture, but as the primary medium through which the experience of hospitality is shaped and organized.
The natural slope of the terrain is transformed into a sequence of terraces, courtyards, and pathways, gradually leading from more private to more communal spaces. Dry-stone walls built from locally sourced stone reinterpret the traditional terracing of the Samos landscape, while timber pergolas and outdoor structures create a series of transitional spaces between the built and the natural environment. The planting strategy, centered around olive trees, citrus, and Mediterranean species, establishes a lush, shaded, and seasonally changing setting. At the heart of the composition, the pool forms the central outdoor gathering space, around which areas for relaxation, dining, and social interaction are arranged. The aim is to create a landscape with a strong sense of place, where hospitality naturally unfolds along the contours of the terrain, and contemporary architecture enters into dialogue with the memory, character, and distinctive identity of Samos.
