Whispering Elia – Villa I is the first completed residence of a three-villa earth-sheltered development in Elia, Mykonos. Its architectural concept originates from the archetypal idea of shelter: a recess in the earth offering protection from wind and heat, combined with a lightweight canopy providing shade.
Following the steep topography, the villa recedes into the terrain. Local stone, timber, earth-toned surfaces and planting borrow their colours and textures from the site, while dry-stone terraces and the revival of the former olive grove reintroduce elements of its rural landscape and reinforce the natural ecosystem.
Large openings dissolve the boundaries between interior, shaded outdoor spaces, pool and landscape, creating one continuous living environment. Rather than dominating the rugged Mykonian landscape, the architecture seeks to become part of it — a contemporary shelter between earth, wind and the Aegean Sea.
